Angel Wings - 7

What in the world just happened? I thought as I looked down at Julia who had just passed out at my feet.
I turned to look outside the door to the people who were just visible over the hill. I could tell that they had been looking for her, I didn't know why but I knew I would help keep her safe.
Where are these thoughts coming from? I thought as I picked up the girl that was at my feet. She was lighter then I imagined. She looked well built and like she did lots of exercise. But she was even lighter than some of my younger brothers.
'Who is that sweetheart?' my earth mother, Anna asked when she walked out the kitchen to see the girl in my arms.
'She is from school, I think she was running from someone' I replied in my blank emotionless voice.
My mother's smile faltered, she hated seeing others in trouble, she also didn't like my toneless voice.
'Do you think she will be alright? She looks so exhausted!' my mother came over to look at the girl in my arms. She placed her hand on Julia's head.  'She has a fever! Quick Mathew get her to your room!' with that said my mother raced off into the kitchen trying to find something to cool down Julia.
I nodded my head and started up the stairs to my room. I looked down to the girl in my arms. I had only seen her a few times in my life. She was one that hid in the shadows and only made herself known when it suited her. She was one that worked hard and got everything done. In IPP her work was displayed all over the walls, but she never seemed to notice. And now it seems she was the one with my wings. I never thought I would find them. It is rare to find your wings when you leave the grounds of the school. I was surprised when Dominic said he would come with me, he found his wings, but she is back at the school.
'I can't… I can't do this' Julia whispered. She moved into me, I doubt she realised what she had done. But when her head came into contact with my chest she relaxed. Her head rested against my heart, my heart beating strongly into her ear. You would think that would wake someone up, but it calmed Julia down, she fully relaxed into my arms. A small smile came to my face, I rarely smiled. I think I have only smiled 6 times in my life. It's sad how I can count them on my fingers.
'Mathew are you alright?' I hadn't heard my mother walk up behind me. She had a habit of doing that to me.
'Why do you ask?' I turned towards her slightly as I headed down the corridor to my room.
'You're smiling'
I hadn't realised the smile was still on my face, or that it was noticeable. 'I'm fine mother' I said, I even had the ability to make the smile bigger.
The expression on my mother's face is something that I will never forget. It was utter shock, never had I been able to hold a smile for this long before.
'She is the one isn't she?' mother asked looking down at the girl in my arms.
I nodded my head, I couldn't deny it. But I still couldn't understand why she had ran from me. As soon as she realised what I was, what she would mean to me, what I would mean to her. She ran and she hadn't returned. I had asked her friend, Lily where she went, but the look on her face said it all. Julia never did things like that. And now she was here, unconscious in my arms. What had happened to her for all those hours?
'Place her down gently' mother said as she pulled back the covers.
Suddenly I had the urge to not let her go. I wanted to keep her safe in my arms. Mother must have seen the look on my face as she smiled gently and patted my back. She had never done that before.
'She will be alright my son,' she whispered 'but you must let her go so she can rest. You can stay by her side if you must.'
I nodded and gently put the girl down, I could clearly see now that she had a fever. I could feel a frown pass over my face as I noticed this.
'Mathew, go have a shower. You need to calm down. She will be alright, I've never seen you like this before' Mother's worried voice broke though the feelings running through me. I had been told the rush of emotions came quickly once you found your wings. But this was ridiculous! I nodded my head and went to get ready for a shower. I continuously glanced at mother and the girl that was resting in my bed. I continued to do this until mother pushed me into the bathroom and shut the door loudly behind her. I sighed and accepted that I would have to calm down. I didn't know what was happening to me. All I know was that I wasn't used to it. And it was messing around with the way I normally acted.

After a long shower I emerged looking at myself in the mirror. I looked exactly the same as I had when I woke up this morning. The only thing that was different was that I had found my wings, in Julia. But what did this mean now? Did we have to go back to the school? And Julia had ran from me, I was so confused. Having all these emotions was messing with me. As I towelled dry I noticed something fall to the ground. It was a golden feather. As soon as I went to pick it up, I heard a blood curdling scream come from my room.
